Twenty Answers About My Writing

I borrowed this list from Melissa Stevens who got it from Kari Trumbo. I have adapted my answers to the questions presented.

1.) What is your Author name? A. Nation
My real name—Nancy A. Nation

2.) What is the first book you ever published?
Similar But Not the Same

3. What is your publishing anniversary? November 2013

4.) What is your favorite book you’ve written thus far?
Deflection A Race Against Time because I astonish myself that I wrote it so well

5.) What book took you the longest to write?
Crossroads A moment of decision because I was out of my genre.

6.) How long did it take you? A grand total of six months including editing.

7.) What kind of music (If Any) do you listen to while you write?
I have to have silence to hear what the voices in my head are telling me.

8.) Who are you favorite character from any of your books?
In the first book, it was Alice Morgan, then later, I switched to Alex Blackhawk

9.) What are you currently working on?
I’m working on a sequel to Deflection, another detective story where Nature shows her
power over man’s daily deeds.

10.) Do you have anything you snack on while you write?
In the afternoon, I’ll have popcorn and a hot chocolate

11.) What is your favorite quote or line from one of your books?
“The man stared at the domee, “Great I got a two-year-old and a big one at that! Don’t do
anything unless I say you can, all right?” Charlie ordered. You have to read the book.

12.) Are you a self-published or a traditional published author? Self-published. I do this for my enjoyment, to relieve myself from the worldly stress, and just to get something off my chest.

13.) What is your writing inspiration? Something that I feel is wrong in the world, a news
story, a family incident, or from something someone said. I am motivated by wanting to see what my characters are up to next.

14.) What genre do you write?
I write science fiction with a moral resolving tone, or Urban Fantasy of present time.

15.) Do you have any writing rituals?
I mostly start with writing at night because I have a hard time falling asleep. Then I take
what I wrote and transcribe it to the computer the next day. Not all what I wrote makes it
into the story, and sometimes I add to the scene.

16.) Do you have a specific place you write or time?
At night, although I can write at my desk if I didn’t hand write anything last night.

17.) Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
If you have a story in you, write it down, even if it is only a paragraph. Once you see it on
paper, you feel you have to add more.

18.) What are your writing goals?
I’d like to publish as many books as I can. At the age I am, I have to do 2-3 each year to
come close to such authors as J.A.Jance and Catherine Coulter who have over 50.

19.) What authors inspire you and your writing? Agatha Christie, Isaac Asimov, J.A.Jance, Rita
Mae Brown, H.G.Wells, C.J.Box. These are mystery and science fiction authors.

20.) What will be you next release? Desert Shock Secrets Never Stay Hid. I hope to have that
released by the end of August or September.
